Evidence that unlocks LGBTQ+ economic power
The data and evidence needed to unlock this power are too often absent. Data on LGBTQ+ Inclusion for Transformation (Data LIFT), is a pioneering model to analyze actionable data on the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ people. We then use evidence to frame economic inclusion, shape stronger policies, and unlock financing for LGBTQ+ communities — creating the conditions necessary for real economic power

We collaborate with LGBTQ+ civil society organizations on-the-ground on a data-driven approach to advocacy
Partnership
We use a socioeconomic lens to identify barriers and opportunities, turning existing data into evidence-based recommendations that frame pathways for economic inclusion
Economic Analysis

We convene “Data Roundtables” to build shared understanding and buy-in among all stakeholders
Learning & Dialogue

We enable partners to use the findings in domestic policymaking and programs — with a focus on the economic sectors
Evidence into Action

We link findings to international institutions and the multilateral development banks, embedding LGBTQ+ inclusion in global financing flows
Global Uptake

We go further by partnering with national statistics offices (NSOs) to integrate the findings and learnings from citizen-generated data into national data systems
Scaling Knowledge
Our Mission
Data LIFT addresses the urgent need for high quality data on LGBTQ+ people — and ensures that data is used to drive real change. Far from performative reporting or shelfware, Data LIFT is a pioneering approach that works directly with organizations to generate meaningful knowledge and embed it into decision-making processes that improve LGBTQ+ lives. Co-created by Koppa Lab and UniBAM in Belize, Data LIFT takes a full-lifecycle view of data — from collection and analysis to direct policy impact — while strengthening the capacity of groups to lead this work
Six principles anchor our work throughout the data lifecycle:

National Partnership on LGBTQ+ Data

Partnership
Partnership is the very first step of Data LIFT. By working hand-in-hand with LGBTQ+ organizations, we can begin our data-driven approach. Partners also include national statistics offices and global institutions, ensuring that evidence is not just generated, but used. These collaborations transform fragmented efforts into shared progress — strengthening advocacy, shaping inclusive policies, and unlocking financing for LGBTQ+ communities.
